With permission, we are sharing this personal story with owners in Lake Naomi. The author’s last name has been redacted to protect our neighbors. If you have a story you'd like us to share too, please simply reply to this email for consideration.

Our story: My husband and I each grew up going to the Poconos, and dreamed of having a home of our own. Over the course of several years we rented in various lake communities, but one long weekend in Lake Naomi put an abrupt end to the search. We had found the place! Purchasing a second home at the ages of 33 and 32, respectively, was a financial stretch. We had a 2-year-old and a newborn baby- so much unknown! The prospect of rentals eased the anxiety and made our dream a reality. Now, many years later, we no longer need to rent our home. I wonder, though, how many young families will pass over LNC if this deed restriction goes into effect? Rental restrictions from Tobyhanna township and the limitation of temporary memberships have just been fully realized. These may already be a deterrent to young families- which is why a deed restriction feels excessive and exclusionary. I hope that the membership votes NO to preserve our community so that it remains accessible for all types of people… in every stage of life. Amanda B.
